Shopify to WooCommerce product CSV: what must be mapped
A Shopify product export is useful source data, but its columns are not already WooCommerce parent and variation rows.
The source and target describe variants differently
Shopify’s product CSV documentation describes fields such as Title, URL handle, SKU, Option1 name, Option1 value, and Price. Options can express combinations such as size and color. The WooCommerce Shopify migration guide explains that a WooCommerce variable product needs a parent row plus child variation rows with attributes and prices.
| Shopify concept | WooCommerce target concept | Check before import |
|---|---|---|
| Title | Name | Repeated rows share a consistent product name. |
| Variant SKU | Variation SKU | Every sellable child has a unique identifier. |
| Option name and value | Attribute name and value | Parent lists values; child chooses one combination. |
| Variant price | Regular price | Decimal amount matches the intended currency context. |
| Image source | Images | Remote image URLs must be directly reachable. |
Take a small, reversible path
Export a few representative products, including a simple item and a multi-option item. Map identifiers and options explicitly. Import into a staging WooCommerce store, compare products and variations, and only then prepare the full catalog. Keep the original export untouched so you can diagnose discrepancies.
Catalog Mender cannot directly convert every Shopify export. Its guided mapping still requires a stable parent product identifier and supports one Size attribute. Shopify products with multiple options need a different adapter and validation. See what the current tool accepts.
